Is Zoom down today? August 24, 2020

It appears that Zoom is down today, August 24, 2020. This applies to the mobile iOS and Android versions, as well as the desktop app. All versions of Zoom are having issues. At the time of writing, it’s currently the start of the working week for many businesses, meaning a large number of users trying to use the Zoom app for conference calls and general meetings. As many companies have adapted to work from home by using the app for face-to-face video chats, this could be a huge blow for businesses trying to start the week as efficiently as possible.

Is Zoom down today?

Is Zoom down today August 24, 2020

Yes, Zoom is down today, August 24, 2020. There are many reports of the Zoom app across all devices, including mobile (iOS and Android) and desktop.

There isn’t yet any official statement from the Zoom website or official social media channels. The team behind Zoom hasn’t yet publicly acknowledged the downtime issue and there hasn’t been any announcement for scheduled maintenance. This means that the Zoom downtime is likely unplanned and there isn’t yet an ETA for when Zoom will be back up and running.

The downtime started around 9 AM ET (1 PM UTC).

As we learn more about why Zoom is down and when it is expected to be back up and running, we’ll update the post. Stay tuned for more information as and when it arrives.

List of Zoom alternatives

If you’re looking for an alternative to Zoom, you can try the following apps:

  • Microsoft Teams
  • Discord
  • BlueJeans
  • UberConference
  • Google Hangouts
  • TeamViewer
  • Whereby
  • GoToMeeting
  • Blackboard Collaborate
  • Webex Meetings

Hopefully, Zoom users won’t need to resort to an alternative, with the app hopefully being back up and running in no time. However, if you’re desperate for an alternative, with this downtime being the straw that broke the camel’s back, then the above suggestions are certainly worth looking into.
