Is there Mortal Shell co-op? The upcoming Soulslike just got an August 18 release date, which has players eager to learn if they can jump into the punishing RPG alongside a friend this summer. In this guide, we’ll let you know whether local or online Mortal Shell cooperative multiplayer is supported.
Mortal Shell Co-Op | Is there local or online cooperative play?
Mortal Shell does not feature local or online co-op. The game doesn’t support online or local cooperative multiplayer, and there are no current plans to implement the feature at a later date.
The game’s developer, Cold Symmetry, responded to a fan on Twitter that inquired about Mortal Shell co-op features:
“Focused on single player. No plans for PvP / co-op currently.”
While it’s understandable, some will likely be disappointed by the news. Cooperative play has been a staple of most Soulslike games and can help to alleviate some of the pressure when it comes to overcoming the genre’s notoriously challenging obstacles.
For the masochists that refuse help of any kind when working their way through Soulslike titles, including the recent Hellpoint and Nioh 2 DLC, it shouldn’t come as such a blow.
The wording “no plans for co-op currently” could indicate that Mortal Shell cooperative play will be considered in the future, however. We’ll have to wait and see if it gets implemented in a later patch.
Mortal Shell Co-Op | Is there cooperative multiplayer?
- No, Mortal Shell doesn’t support co-op.
- There are “no plans for co-op currently” according to the game’s developer.
- The statement doesn’t completely rule out a Mortal Shell co-op update in the future.
With Mortal Shell releasing for PS4, Xbox One, and PC via the Epic Games Store you might be curious if it’ll come to Steam and Nintendo Switch as well. Additionally, with it being a stunner in the looks department, might it take advantage of the PS5 and Xbox Series X?
