Now that you’ve completed Ghost of Tsushima, you’re no doubt wondering when you can expect a sequel to launch. Surely there will be a Ghost of Tsushima 2, featuring Jin and his ghost-like abilities, right? Well, with the game having only recently launched, it’s understandably not all that clear yet. However, with the game performing well when it comes to sales figures, and doing well when it comes to professional reviews, there is clearly a lot of demand for this title. When is the Ghost of Tsushima sequel release date?
At the time of writing, there is no official confirmation that there will ever be a Ghost of Tsushima sequel. However, if we were to speculate purely on the time between Sucker Punch releases, we’d estimate 2023-2025.
It’s incredibly difficult to put a number of it, as there are so many factors that influence a game’s release date. And with Ghost of Tsushima 2, we don’t even know if it will ever be made.
Ghost of Tsushima ends with Jin successfully repelling the bulk of the Mongol forces, with his final endgame task of reclaiming the entire island. Unless another enemy force appears on the island, it’s unlikely that a sequel would take place on that same island. Perhaps Jin would move to another part of Japan to continue the fight against the Mongols.
Between Infamous Second Son/First Light and Ghost of Tsushima, Sucker Punch took six years. Some of this time was dedicated to Prophecy, as well as Ghost of Tsushima.
Of course, other factors could impact a game’s development time. We’re about to see the launch of PlayStation 5, meaning new hardware to learn about and develop for. It’s also possible that a different game will be made instead of a Ghost of Tsushima sequel.
