When is the Rogue Company Steam release date? This brand-new shooter from First Watch Games and Hi-Rez Studios made its debut with a splash, surprise-launching a Rogue Company beta on consoles and on PC via the Epic Games Store. Not everyone is a fan of the Epic Games Store, though, and you might want to know when you can get it on Steam.
If you’ve missed out on the launch announcement, Rogue Company is Hi-Rez’s latest game. Some people have wondered if this is going to be a free-to-play title or not, especially because it contains an in-game currency for purchasing microtransactions and lists multiple Founder’s Editions on the various storefronts.
While this new third-person shooter features cross-play and cross-progression, there has been a hitch for some PC players — this game is launching as an Epic Games Store exclusive. That leaves some of us with a burning question: when is the Rogue Company Steam release date?
When can you get Rogue Company on Steam?
If you’re curious about a Rogue Company Steam release date, there’s good news and bad news. The bad news is that we haven’t yet received a release date for Hi-Rez’s latest third-person shooter, so we can’t say for sure when it’s going to be coming to Steam.
That said, there’s good news, too. There are very few games that are Epic Games Store exclusives forever. As best as we can tell, most exclusives are able to be sold on other digital storefronts after at least one year. Seeing as the Rogue Company beta launched worldwide on July 20, 2020, that gives us the earliest likely date: July 20, 2021.
However, things get a little more complicated from there. While Rogue Company has indeed launched, it’s launched in beta. That might mean the Rogue Company Steam release date could be a little later than we might expect.
It should also be mentioned that while most Epic exclusives end up on Steam after one year, not every game follows that pattern. Satisfactory, for example, originally launched on the Epic Games Store in March 2019 but it didn’t get a Steam release until June 2020.
In any case, it’s pretty unlikely that Hi-Rez will pass up the extra cash that an eventual Steam release can bring in. We’ll probably see Rogue Company on Steam sometime on or after July 20, 2021. If you don’t want to wait to play it on Steam, you can pick it up for PC on the Epic Games Store.
