How to observe Leaders in Ghost of Tsushima

To observe Leaders in Ghost of Tsushima, you need to be hidden, get onto a vantage point, and hold R2 for as long as it takes while at an enemy base. Observing a Leader at an enemy base will grant you a point towards your next Stance upgrade. It’s well worth doing, as long as you can remain hidden while at an enemy base.

Actually observing a Leader is simple. Remaining hidden from your enemies for long enough to initiate the observing ritual is the difficult part. You need to try and not alert the enemy while in the enemy base. If you’re a stealth master, this won’t be an issue. We’re not all Sam Fisher, however. Make sure to study the paths of your enemies and remain hidden until you can make it atop the vantage point. It may take some practice, but getting to that vantage point and observing the enemy base Leader will help you out on your journey.

As stated above, observing an enemy Leader grants you one point towards your next Stance upgrade. Killing the observed enemy Leader gives you another point towards a Stance upgrade. If you kill the enemy Leader without observing them, you get just the one stance upgrade point. You will want, therefore, to observe as many enemy Leaders as you can.
