Following the latest update — full patch notes here — Fortnite players can now discover the Flare Gun in-game. Getting the Flare Gun is mostly a case of luck, as with any other weapon in Battle Royale. It’s a rare spawn, which are actually relatively common, despite the name, and can be found in the usual places. Unfortunately, there’s no special method that guarantees you’ll be able to loot one.

How to get the Flare Gun in Fortnite

  • Like any other weapon, Flare Guns are random spawns that can be found in a variety of locations.
    • Loot Chests.
    • Ground spawns.
    • Supply Drops.
    • Llamas.
  • The Flare Gun is classified as a rare item, which, contrary to the name, means it’s somewhat easy to get hold of through persistent looting.

The Flare Gun only carries six shots, so be sure to use them wisely if you do manage to loot one. You can’t replenish the ammo, but it hits for 60 damage and will grant the Shots Fired Fortnite achievement if you manage to score a kill with it. While the Flare Gun won’t set structures ablaze itself, you can also snag the Fight Fire with Fire Fortnite achievement by shooting an already burning structure with it.

While the Flare Gun is fun for a limited time with its low ammo capacity, the recent addition of shark riding provides an endless amount of entertainment. If you’re curious about what the future might hold for Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 3, we’ve also compiled some leaks.
