THQ Nordic and Mimimi Games’ strategy revival, Desperados III, is set to hit PC, PS4, and Xbox One later this month. Since strategy titles can be perfect for gaming on the go, are there any plans for a Desperados 3 Nintendo Switch version? In this guide, we’ll cover everything you need to know about the Wild West stealth title on Switch.
Is Desperados 3 coming to Nintendo Switch?
Unfortunately, at the time of writing, there’s been no definitive word from THQ or Mimimi regarding a Desperados III Switch port. As a result, there’s currently no Desperados 3 Nintendo Switch release date for us to share.

Developer Mimimi’s last game, the similarly-styled Shadow Tactics, did not make the jump to Nintendo Switch. Whether that could be an indication Desperados 3 won’t transition remains to be seen; the dev has previously stated that it “can’t make any promises” regarding the handheld port, however.
In a 2017 interview with wccftech, Mimimi Communications Director Dennis Huszak touched on developing for the Nintendo Switch. When asked whether the studio’s next game (Desperados 3) would be developed for Switch, Huszak said:
“We’re looking into it, but we can’t make any promises at this point about bringing our next game to the Switch.”
Potentially, the decision has since been made not to port Desperados over. Mimimi deems it “very important” to ensure it can “guarantee that the experience is the same” wherever gamers play. If the technically inferior Switch hardware isn’t capable of running a comparable experience, this could explain the console’s absence.
That same interview does confirm Mimimi has Switch dev kits, though, so who knows what they might be toiling away on. It’s possible that we could eventually get a Desperados 3 Nintendo Switch port, once extra optimization work has been done.
