Fallout 4 has a number of different settlements for the Survivor to manage. The biggest of these is on Spectacle Island, a small landmass on the southeastern side of the map. However, you’ll need to complete a few tasks before you can unlock the Spectacle Island settlement and start building.
Fallout 4 | How to unlock the Spectacle Island Settlement
To unlock the Spectacle Island settlement in Fallout 4, you’ll have to swim out to the island. Once arrived, the settlement can be unlocked by activating the radio tower and clearing out the swarms of Mirelurks.

Reaching Spectacle Island shouldn’t pose much of a problem. With proper radiation protection, you can simply swim out to it from a nearby location such as Warwick Homestead. Alternatively, you can equip Power Armor and walk across the sea bed.
The settlement itself is a different matter. On the island you’ll spot a radio tower that must be activated before the settlement can be used. This can be accomplished by first swimming down to the submerged boat on the eastern side of the island and flipping the circuit breaker.
Once the first circuit breaker has been activated, Mirelurks will begin to swarm the area. There’s a chance that a Mirelurk Queen or even a Mirelurk Deep King will spawn, so be ready for a fight. Once the threat has been neutralized, you’ll need to flip a second circuit breaker within a metal shack at the base of the radio tower.
After both circuit breakers have been tripped, the radio tower will come online. With it back up and running, you’ll have successfully unlocked the Spectacle Island settlement and can start building through use of the nearby workshop.
It doesn’t require much work to unlock the Spectacle Island settlement in Fallout 4. All you’ll need is the proper equipment for exploration and combat. The settlement itself only requires the radio tower to be online, which is a simple matter of flipping two circuit breakers.
