Hacking has been a problem on PC for years now, but the closed console ecosystem has largely protected those on PlayStation and Xbox from being exposed to it. Since Warzone forces cross-play, however, you’re basically guaranteed to encounter PC hackers at some point even when playing via console. Although you can’t shut hackers down instantaneously, Activision and Infinity Ward are working to remove illegitimate players from standard matchmaking. This is where you can help.

Since you can’t disable cross-play to eliminate the issue, it’s worth learning how to report cheaters in Call of Duty: Warzone. This prompts the developers to investigate a user and, potentially, mark them as a cheater. Confirmed cheaters can’t access standard matchmaking and can only play with other hackers.

How to stop CoD: Warzone hackers

  • When you identify a hacker, make note of their name and finish the match.
  • From the Warzone main menu, hit the button/key corresponding to the “Social” prompt in the upper right corner of the screen.
  • Navigate to the “Recent Players” tab.
  • Select the suspected cheater that you wish to report.
  • Click the “Report Player” option.
  • Click the “Cheating” option.

Now that your report has been filed, an investigation into the relevant player’s behavior can take place. If they are found to be a hacker, you’ll have done your part in making Call of Duty: Warzone more fun for legit players.
