Assassin's Creed Valhalla Steam release date

When is the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Steam release date?

Ubisoft revealed Assassin’s Creed Valhalla via an hours-long painting stream, though, thankfully, the debut trailer was far more exciting. So exciting, in fact, that PC gamers are already wondering about an Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Steam release date. With the Norse adventure initially set to reach the PC courtesy of Uplay and the Epic Games Store, is it scheduled to launch on Valve’s Steam storefront at some point in the future?

Is there an Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Steam release date?

Assassin's Creed Valhalla Steam release date

There is no Assassin’s Creed Valhalla release date at the time of writing. Ubisoft could announce one soon, however, as rumors currently point towards a late 2020 launch for AC Valhalla. As far as a specific Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Steam release date goes, the wait may be significantly longer.

Valhalla is scheduled to hit PC alongside current and next-generation consoles, though it’s skipping over Steam — the platform’s biggest digital distributor — in favor of Ubisoft’s propriety storefront and the third-party Epic Games Store (EGS). Although that might seem counterproductive, it’s a move that could ultimately put more money in Ubisoft’s pocket.

Ubisoft Vice President Chris Early previously told The New York Times that Steam’s business model is “unrealistic,” and “doesn’t reflect where the world is today.” Early is referring to the substantial 30% cut that Valve takes from Steam sales, while Epic only takes a 12% cut by comparison.

This prompted The Division 2 to dodge Steam, and it still hasn’t been ported over yet. That could indicate we’ll never actually get an Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Steam release date; Ubisoft is clearly reluctant to do business with Steam, so might not bring the Viking Age Assassin’s Creed game across. With that being said, stranger things have happened, so maybe Ubisoft will bring Assassin’s Creed Valhalla to the PC platform in the future.
