How to know if you received a Valorant key

Riot Games is doling out access to the Valorant closed beta by offering keys in exchange for watching Twitch streams. As a result, many would-be players are leaving Valorant streams open in the hopes of earning a key — an activity sometimes referred to as idling. However, if you’re not actually watching the stream, you may not realize whether or not you’ve been granted access. How do you know if you got a Valorant key if you’re not paying attention? As it turns out, there are several different ways to check.

You’ll know that you’ve received a Valorant key when you get a Twitch notification. These generally appear near the top of the chat window. However, if you weren’t paying attention, you can double check to see if you got a beta key by going back through your Twitch inventory or by checking your status on the official Valorant website.

Ideally, you would actually be watching when the Valorant key was given to you. If not, the beta access notification can still be found in your inventory. To check, click on your Twitch avatar (found at the top-right of the screen on PC), then click on Inventory.

In rare circumstances, some Twitch viewers will be granted Valorant beta access but won’t receive a notification. Thankfully, you can double-check on your beta access status through the official Valorant website. The process is simple: Log in with your Riot Games credentials, and on the screen that says “Am I in the beta,” click the option labeled “Check your status.” If beta access has been granted, you can download the game client and start playing immediately.

If you want to check out Valorant, you’ll need to watch Twitch streams. For the time being, it’s still the only way to get a beta key. You won’t have to sit and watch the entire time, but if you step away, you run the risk of missing the key drop notification. Still, if your Riot Games and Twitch accounts are linked when beta access is granted, you won’t need to view the notification before you can jump into the game.
