Final Fantasy 7 Remake How to get different dresses Dressed to the Nines trophy guide

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Get different dresses | Dressed to the Nines trophy guide

You can get three dresses each for Cloud, Tifa, and Aerith in Final Fantasy 7 Remake. The game doesn’t make it obvious that this is possible, but actions you take up to and throughout Chapter 9 influence which dress each character wears. To get the Dressed to the Nines trophy, you’ll need to get all nine dresses, a tall order since there’s no indicator in FF7 Remake on how to complete this task.

Fortunately, we’ve spent hours investigating what actions unlock each dress in Final Fantasy 7 Remake. The process still takes quite a bit of time, even if you know exactly what to do, so prepare yourself for a few hours of repetitive tasks.

How to unlock Cloud dresses in Final Fantasy 7 Remake

Cloud’s dresses are the easiest ones to unlock in FF7 Remake since everything you need to do can be found in Chapter 9: The Town That Never Sleeps. Unfortunately, you can’t just make a save and reload it to get all three dresses, as the game only gives you credit for seeing them if you finish out the chapter. So, to get all three of Cloud’s dresses, you’ll need to play through Chapter 9 at least three times.

Unfortunately, I haven’t quite pinpointed the exact triggers needed to get two of Cloud’s dresses. However, I have figured out a sequence of events that you can follow to ensure your results, but my method could probably be refined further.

In short, the methods to get Cloud’s different dresses in Final Fantasy 7 Remake are:

  • Do no side quests in Chapter 9
  • Get Madam M’s requests and do “The Price of Thievery” and “Shears’ Counterattack” side quests.
  • Take Chocobo Sam’s requests and complete “The Party Never Stops” and “A Dynamite Body” side quests.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Cloud Dresses | Black Dress

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Cloud Dress Tier 1

  • Description: This is Cloud’s base dress; it’s very dull. Cloud also gets pigtails with white bows. This dress is given to you if you show the least effort helping the citizens of Wall Market.
  • Requirements: Complete no side quests in Chapter 9.

Getting Cloud’s worst dress is easy. Play through Chapter 9 until you complete the colosseum sequence. Once you do this, you can return to Madam M’s so Aerith can be fitted for her dress. As soon as you exit Madam M’s, just turn around and head right back in. This will continue the main quest. Then, just play until the dance sequence at the Honeybee Inn, and Cloud will be given his worst dress.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Cloud Dress | Blue and Black Dress

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Cloud Dress Tier 2

  • Description: This dress is a significant upgrade over the base one. It consists of a black dress with purple corset and sheer sleeves. Cloud also gets added pigtails with pink bows and a black bow in his hair.
  • Requirements: Get Chocobo Sam’s requests and follow “The Party Never Stops” questline.

This is where things get a bit confusing. The main goal here is to trigger The Party Never Stops, and the method to do so isn’t obvious. I suggest for this dress and the next you save directly before the coin flip with Sam just in case you accidentally start the questline you don’t want.

If you follow the sequence of events below, I guarantee that you’ll get The Party Never Stops, but, as I said above, you can probably streamline the process if you figure out the exact trigger for the quest.

To get the Tier 2 Dress:

  • Choose heads or tails for Chocobo Sam’s coin toss.
  • Pick the Poor Man’s Course – 100 Gil hand massage at Madam M’s.
  • Tell Aerith, “It looks comfortable,” when she asks what’s wrong with her outfit.
  • Play through the chapter as usual until after the colosseum.
  • Return to Madam M’s with Aerith.
  • Get Chocobo Sam’s requests.
  • Complete “The Party Never Stops” and “A Dynamite Body.”
  • Play until the dance at Honeybee Inn to see this dress.

I’m fairly sure the trigger for one questline or the other is the coin toss, so you’re free to experiment. However, I do know for sure the steps above work to get this dress.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Cloud Dress | Purple Dress with Tiara

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Cloud Dress Tier 3

  • Description: Cloud’s best dress is a light purple with a choker and tiara. Unlike the other two dresses, Cloud wears a long-haired wig here.
  • Requirements: Get Madam M’s requests and complete “The Price of Thievery” questline.

Again, the steps below will get you this dress 100% of the time, but they can probably be streamlined.

To get the Tier 3 Dress:

  • Choose “No deal,” for the coin toss with Chocobo Sam.
  • Pay for the Luxury Course – 3,000 Gil at Madam M’s.
  • Tell Aerith, “It looks comfortable,” when she asks what’s wrong with her outfit.
  • Fight your way through the colosseum and return to Madam M’s.
  • Get Madam M’s requests.
  • Complete “The Price of Thievery” and “Shears’ Counterattack” side quests.
  • Continue the main quest until the Honeybee Inn dance to get this dress.

Of course, this dress is only “the best” in looks. I’m reasonably sure Don Corneo picks Cloud no matter what the party is wearing.

How to unlock Aerith dresses in Final Fantasy 7 Remake

Unlocking Aerith’s dresses in FF7 Remake is more straightforward in concept than unlocking Cloud’s, but it takes you more time. Which outfit Aerith gets depends on how many side quests you complete in Chapter 8: Budding Bodyguard. Note that each time you reset Chapter 8 to do a different number of side quests that you have to finish out the chapter to make it count towards what dress Aerith gets in Chapter 9.

To get Aerith’s dresses, you must complete the following number of quests in Chapter 8:

  1. 0-2
  2. 3-5
  3. 6

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Aerith Dresses | Pink Dress with Frilly Sleeves

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Aerith Dress Tier 1

  • Description: This is a pale pink summer dress with a floral print that looks like something a little girl would wear to church. Aerith hates it, and everyone thinks it’s an ugly dress.
  • Requirements: Complete 0-2 side quests in Chapter 8.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Aerith Dresses | Pink Halter Dress

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Aerith Dress Tier 2

  • Description: This dress is pale pink with a halter top. Aerith and everyone likes this one a lot better.
  • Requirements: Complete 3-5 side quests in Chapter 8.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Aerith Dresses | Red Dress

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Aerith Dress Tier 3

  • Description: This dress is Aerith’s “sexy” red dress from the origi
  • nal game. People love it so much that they crowd Aerith and set off fireworks in celebration. Johnny also rolls out a red carpet for her.
  • Requirements: Complete all side quests in Chapter 8.

How to unlock Tifa dresses in Final Fantasy 7 Remake

All of Tifa’s dresses hinge on one innocent question asked of you in Chapter 3: Home Sweet Slum. There’s a chance you didn’t see this question during your playthrough since you have to complete all side quests in Chapter 3 to unlock the scene she asks it in. Make sure that when you reset Chapter 3 to unlock a new dress that you complete it before heading to Chapter 9. Otherwise, it won’t count the decision you made, and you’ll get the same dress you did the last time.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Tifa Dresses | Purple Dress

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Tifa Dress Tier 1

  • Description: This is Tifa’s classic purple dress from the original game.
  • Requirements: Either don’t complete all side quests in Chapter 3 or choose “Something mature,” when Tifa asks you what she should wear.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Tifa Dresses | Leopard Print Chinese Dress

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Tifa Dress Tier 2

  • Description: This is a leopard print dress in traditional Chinese fashion.
  • Requirements: Complete all side quests in Chapter 3, and choose “Something.. sporty,” when Tifa asks you what would suit her.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Tifa Dresses | Kimono

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Tifa Dress Tier 3

  • Description: This dress is a Japanese kimono.
  • Requirements: Finish all six side quests in Chapter 3, and choose “Something exotic,” when Tifa asks what you think she should wear.
