If there are multiple people in your household, then it’s likely that any onlookers are at least somewhat interested in taking a therapeutic trip to your peaceful Animal Crossing: New Horizons getaway. Can that be accommodated, though? Find out whether or not several player profiles are supported on the same Nintendo Switch system in our handy Animal Crossing: New Horizons multiple saves guide.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons Multiple Saves| How many players per system?
Nintendo’s debut Animal Crossing Nintendo Switch title features a somewhat unique local save system. We’re pleased to confirm that multiple save slots are supported in New Horizons — a whopping eight, to be exact — though only one of those people will get to select and name an island.

Whoever plays Animal Crossing: New Horizons first gets to lay the groundwork for everyone that uses a specific Nintendo Switch system to play the game thereafter. Up to eight players can share a console and contribute to the growth of one communal island; this unique choice could’ve been made by Nintendo due to either technical limitations or, in the spirit of the Animal Crossing series, fostering a greater sense of community.
The in-game options menu can be used to delete a player profile from a Nintendo Switch console if you need to clear space for any reason. Meanwhile, deleting an island — plus all of the inhabitants along with it — can be done on a system level from the Nintendo Switch Home screen.
