Can you get married in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Can you get married in Animal Crossing: New Horizons?

While other life simulation games offer up the ultimate lives for players to run through, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a little different. It’s a game that focuses on relaxation, having a bit of fun, and spending time with your neighbors. Can you get married in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, though? In this guide, we’ll let you in on whether there is an Animal Crossing: New Horizons marriage system or not.

Can you get married in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

You cannot get married in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. No matter how much you want to marry another islander or animal villager (no judgment here), you can’t. Sorry, your marriage to Blathers will have to remain as fan fiction, for now.

ALSO: Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ multiplayer has some major downsides

As far as we’re aware, you can’t get married in any Animal Crossing game aside from perhaps Pocket Camp. So not being able to get married in Animal Crossing: New Horizons shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. While you may think it could be a cute feature for the series, marriage between a person and an animal is, at least, questionable. This isn’t to mention the sticky issue of divorce, either. Could you imagine marrying another islander, only to get divorced with so few people living around you? Awkward.

You will be able to hold fake marriage ceremonies in-game, however. Bring a bunch of your friends or family around to your island and give them party poppers or some other such item, for example. You should even be able to get everyone to dress accordingly. The roleplaying possibilities in Animal Crossing are endless.

You can make up to ten other villager friends, too. Up to ten animal villagers can live on your island at once. You’ll get gifts from them and they can visit your house from time-to-time, too. So, despite the lack of Animal Crossing: New Horizons marriage ceremonies, you can still become very good friends with your favorite villagers.
