If you’ve been playing (or trying to play) the new free-to-play battle royale, you may well have encountered the annoying Call of Duty: Warzone black screen bug. As it turns out, there are, at least, a couple of CoD: Warzone black screen bugs plaguing the game upon its launch. Is there a Call of Duty: Warzone black screen bug fix?
As of writing, there is no fix in place for the black screen bugs in Call of Duty: Warzone. According to the official Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Trello board, however, Activision is aware of at least one of the black screen bugs and is working on a fix. This is just one of the black screen bugs that have been annoying players recently, however. It’s nice to know that at least one of the bugs is being looked into and being fixed as of writing.

The two most pressing black screen bugs in CoD: Warzone are these:
- A Black screen appears instead of the loading screen when booting the game, as per Estevxz_’s tweet
- The screen becomes black after killing an enemy, making it so you cannot see, as per Worgenator’s Reddit thread
Both render the game unplayable for a select few unlucky number of players. For the Call of Duty: Warzone black screen at launch bug, we can only recommend general fixes until the developers squash the bug in a future update. Try updating your drivers, making sure the game is up-to-date, clearing cache and rebooting your PC or console and trying again.
For the black screen after killing enemies bug, again, you might be better off waiting for a fix in a future update. For now, though, you can try to lower your memory clocks, as suggested in this Reddit thread. The Warzone ‘black void’ bug could be being caused by a VRAM issue on PC, at least. It’s a tricky fix to pull off, however, and if you’re worried about wrecking your PC, we’d advise against it unless you know exactly what you’re doing.
