Now that Activision has finally released a battle royale for the game, fans are wondering whether Zombies is coming to Modern Warfare. Zombies has been a staple mode of the series since it first appeared in Call of Duty: World at War, and it’s been missed in the latest release. However, the fact it’s missing isn’t a big surprise.
As cool as Modern Warfare Zombies would be, we’ll dive into why it’s not happening. We’ll also fill you in on when you may see Zombies in a Call of Duty release again.

Will Modern Warfare get Zombies?
The simple answer to whether there will be a Modern Warfare Zombies mode is “no.” Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was developed primarily by Infinity Ward. None of the Infinity Ward Call of Duty titles have featured a Zombies mode.
Call of Duty: Zombies is one of Treyarch’s hallmarks. So, we won’t see Zombies in Modern Warfare because Treyarch isn’t working on it. However, there is some good news for people who are missing the cold touch of the undead.
Call of Duty is a yearly franchise, and Activision previously had Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games, and Treyarch, each working on one COD at a time. This meant a new game could come out every year while still giving each studio at least three years of development time.
Sledgehammer Games was supposed to be producing Call of Duty 2020. However, a falling out with fellow Activision studio Raven Software caused the publisher to demote the two studio’s roles in developing the game and put Treyarch in charge of this year’s Call of Duty.
Since Treyarch is taking the lead on this year’s game, there’s a chance that we’ll see a new version of Zombies drop in 2020. However, there is a chance that we may not get a chance to play the mode again until Call of Duty 2021.
