Red Dead Redemption II, most would agree, is a modern masterpiece. Knowing this, it’s only natural that people would be excited about seeing it made available to the widest possible audience on the largest possible range of platforms. Not only that, but next-generation console ports — i.e. Red Dead Redemption 2 PS5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 Xbox Series X — would no doubt give the game a boost and bring it closer to the superlative PC version. That’s before even considering the possibility of continuing Red Dead Online PS5 and Xbox Series X ecosystems…
Is Red Dead Redemption 2 coming to PS5?
At the time of writing, renowned developer Rockstar Games hasn’t made any announcements concerning a port of Red Dead Redemption 2 and/or Red Dead Online to Sony’s next-gen PS5 console. As a direct result of this, there’s obviously no Red Dead Redemption 2 PS5 release date to share right now.

Although Rockstar is remaining tight-lipped from an official standpoint, as far back as the game’s original October 2018 release month rumors of a PlayStation 5 version have been swirling. One Reddit thread cites a Rockstar employee as having said that “Red Dead Redemption 2 Remastered” will launch for PS5 “at the end of 2020.”
This should be taken with a heaped pinch of salt, of course, though it wouldn’t actually be dissimilar to Rockstar Games’ cross-generational handling of Grand Theft Auto V. Whether or not it’ll pan out remains to be seen.
Is Red Dead Redemption 2 coming to Xbox Series X?
Similar to the status of a PS5 port, no official plans regarding a Red Dead Redemption 2 Xbox Series X version have been shared by Rockstar at this point in time. Due to this, there isn’t a Red Dead Redemption 2 Xbox Series X release date.
While we wouldn’t recommend pinning your hopes to rumors and speculation, the supposed Reddit leak concerning a next-gen Red Dead Redemption 2 remaster we mentioned above does, in fact, relate to Microsoft’s new console as well.
