If you’re an avid player of Destiny 2, you’ll be slightly concerned about what the release of the upcoming next-gen PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles will mean for the game. Is there any kind of Destiny 2 PS5 and Xbox Series X release date? Read on to discover whether a Destiny 2 next-gen release date has been confirmed or not. We’ll let you know if Bungie’s FPS MMO has been announced for the PS5 or Xbox Series X below.
What is the Destiny 2 PS5 and Xbox Series X release date?
As of writing, Bungie has not confirmed whether or not there will be a Destiny 2 PS5 or Destiny 2 Xbox Series X port. Currently, no word has been said on Destiny 2 releasing on the two next-gen consoles. It’s no doubt, however, that a next-gen upgraded version of the game would go down well.

Thanks to the near-constant updates and expansions since its launch, it’s more than arguable that Destiny 2 is better than ever. It would make sense to release it on PS5 and Xbox Series X. The extra power of the next-gen consoles would allow for true 4K, 60 fps Destiny 2 action on your TV, at least. Such a move does raise questions, of course, for cross-platform and cross-generational play and the like (no one wants to lose their progress).
Despite any questions such as these, however, Ubisoft is going ahead with a PS5 and Xbox Series X release for Rainbow Six: Siege. This will contain cross-generational play. Thanks to this release, we do think it’s likely that Bungie will follow suit and release Destiny 2 on PS5 and Xbox Series X. It would need to feature cross-platform and cross-generational play, but that is doable. At the very least, however, you should be able to bring your PS4 or Xbox One Destiny 2 character and progress over to the new generation.
Thanks to the heavily rumored backward compatibility options of both the Xbox Series X and PS5, however, you could simply be able to play the current-gen version of the game on the next-gen consoles. Hopefully, this would bring with it minor improvements to things such as load times and framerate.
