Ori and the Blind Forest developer Moon Studios was amongst the first that Microsoft bought in an effort to bolster their first-party output moving forward. Despite this, the Xbox manufacturer shared the love by releasing a port of the acclaimed Ori and the Blind Forest on Nintendo Switch late last year. Naturally, that’s prompted gamers to ask one simple question: “Is Ori and the Will of the Wisps coming to Nintendo Switch?

In this guide, we’ll cover everything you need to know about the platforms that Ori and the Will of the Wisps is set to hit and whether or not Nintendo Switch makes the cut.

At the time of writing, unfortunately, no official plans have been announced pertaining to a Nintendo Switch version of Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Instead, Moon Studios and Microsoft are targetting just the Xbox One and PC platforms.

With that being said, Nintendo Switch initially being snubbed doesn’t necessarily mean that Ori and the Will of the Wisps will never reach the hybrid handheld. The original game, Ori and the Blind Forest, released on PC and Xbox One in March 2015 and didn’t make the transition to Switch until September 2019. Although this could indicate a long wait for prospective Nintendo Switch players, it does mean that all hope isn’t lost.

Games like Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice and Cuphead from Microsoft-owned studios eventually made their way to Switch, so clearly the Xbox Game Studios umbrella isn’t shy about sharing their toys if it makes good business sense. With an established Ori fanbase on Switch — which is literally petitioning for the sequel — it certainly seems that the rule might apply where an Ori and the Will of the Wisps Nintendo Switch version is concerned.
