Rumors surrounding the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Warzone battle royale mode have been swirling ever since the game’s release, with datamined info and leaks pointing towards a huge mode eventually coming to the game. Well, it looks like it’s finally happening, with developer Infinity Ward teasing the new battle royale mode in the Season 2 introduction. With the new Modern Warfare mode all but confirmed, the next big question is: Is Modern Warfare Warzone battle royale free-to-play?
Is Modern Warfare Warzone battle royale free-to-play?
The community has been talking since release about a potential Call of Duty: Modern Warfare free-to-play battle royale mode. A game type that would act as a gateway to get more players enjoying the Modern Warfare experience, hoping that they would choose to invest in the game’s other multiplayer and single-player components. Think of it like Fortnite, where the Battle Royale segment is free-to-play, but the Save the World co-op mode is paid-for.
Aside from the occasional rumor popping up from time to time, there hasn’t been any credible information leaked, nor anything official revealed about any free-to-play Modern Warfare edition.

While the Modern Warfare Warzone game mode has been spotted by Reddit user “ARedWerewolf” when their lobby apparently glitched, there’s no indication as to whether or not this mode will only be available owners of the full game.
Dataminers are no doubt working hard on breaking down the latest update, which introduced Season 2 and a number of other changes and improvements, but there haven’t yet been any leaks about Warzone free-to-play.
With the “Classified” mode appearing at the main menu, it’s only a matter of time before Infinity Ward reveals what exactly Warzone is and what they are planning for Modern Warfare‘s take on the battle royale genre.
