Fortnite is available on a whole bunch of consoles, but can you play Fortnite on PS3, Xbox 360, or the Wii? While the game is available to play on all current-gen systems, those who haven’t made the upgrade may still be left wanting to play the battle royale game on last-gen systems.
Let’s explore whether or not Epic Games’ battle royale is playable on last-gen consoles.
Fortnite on PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii
Fortnite is one of the current generation’s most successful games, with it being a bank-rolling success for Epic Games and starting a cultural phenomenon in the process. But is it playable on last-generation consoles?
Can you play Fortnite on PS3?
Unfortunately, Fortnite cannot be played on the PS3. Sony’s last-generation console released before Epic Games released its blockbuster battle royale, and given that Sony was inevitably prioritizing the success of the PS4, a PS3 release didn’t make it to fruition.
While many still play games using their PS3, it’s unlikely that Epic Games will release the game on PS3 in the future. Now that Sony is gearing up to release its PS5 this year, it doesn’t seem likely that Epic Games would want to look back and launch its game on an outdated console.
Can you play Fortnite on Xbox 360?
Fortnite cannot be played on Xbox 360. Microsoft currently has it on the Xbox One and Xbox One X, while simultaneously preparing for the launch of the Xbox Series X. This means that while the battle royale game will likely launch on the company’s next-gen console, there’s little chance of it making its way to its last-gen system.
Can you play Fortnite on Wii?
The Wii is by far the least likely candidate to receive a Fortnite port, with Nintendo now two console generations ahead with the Switch. Considering that the Wii didn’t even support HD gaming, we can safely say that you cannot play Fortnite on the Wii, and that’s incredibly unlikely to change in the future.
