Fallout 76 is about to get an extra dose of personality thanks to the Wastelanders expansion. This expansion finally brings proper voiced NPCs into the post-apocalyptic game as part of what fans have dubbed the NPC update. Fallout 76 Wastelanders | NPC Release Date
Voiced NPCs will arrive in Fallout 76 alongside the release date of the Wastelanders expansion on April 7, 2020. This date also corresponds with the release date of Fallout 76 on Steam, Valve’s popular video game distribution service.

As a free expansion, Wastelanders will be made available to all current owners of Fallout 76. It’s nice to finally get something for free, right? And for those who haven’t yet jumped into the action, fans will soon be able to buy one of two new versions of the game: Fallout 76 Wastelanders Edition and the Fallout 76 Wastelanders Deluxe Edition. Both serve as a replacement for the game’s Tricentennial Edition, which is being discontinued.
Aside from introducing fully voiced NPCs, Wastelanders will also offer extra items and loot through two new paid content bundles. Assuming you don’t mind spending a bit of extra cash, you can purchase either the Raider Content Bundle or the Settler Content bundle to earn some in-game items. Alternatively, you can snag all of the bonuses by purchasing the Raider and Settler Content Bundle. Either way, you’ll score a new C.A.M.P., Stash Box, Faction Flag, outfit, loot bag, and Power Armor skin.
Again, the Raider and Settler content are paid add-ons being released alongside the free Wastelanders expansion. However, those who haven’t yet bought Fallout 76 will be able to get both the Settler and Raider content packs within the Wastelanders Deluxe Edition. No price has yet been set for the bundles or for the new versions of the game, but we expect to hear more about that soon.
