It’s a bit of a surprise to see the Fortnite 2.54 update patch notes dropping today, as there was no warning by the official Fortnite social media accounts. While a larger 11.50 patch was expected for next week, no one was really anticipating a smaller update to roll out today (January 29).

Here’s what the new update changes:

General

  • Goalbound Set Outfits have number in front instead of back.
  • The issue involving difficulty scrolling/selecting Friends in the Social menu will be resolved in a future release.

Battle Royale

  • Ziplines temporarily disabled due to issue.
  • Can’t edit structures when looking straight down.
  • Unintentionally editing building pieces through floors.
  • The issue involving picking up DBNO teammates when trying to switch to the Pickaxe will be resolved in a future release.

Creative

  • Particles and Beacons can no longer be customized/interacted with.
  • Some featured Islands are missing in-game description.

Thankfully, renowned Fortnite dataminer @ShiinaBR has been quick to explore even more changes to the game. These include a new “Freemix” emote, new Super Bowl styles for the football skins, and “several updates for Save the World.”

We’ll provide more information as soon as the Fortnite social media accounts spring into action. For now, assume that this patch is a smaller preview of bigger things to come next week.

If you’re a big Super Bowl fan, there’s no doubt that this new update will please you. As for everyone else? There’s always the next update!
