How to escape battles in Dragon Ball Z Kakarot

Running away is okay in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. Sometimes the fight is too tough and you need to escape to recover. While it might seem like your only option is to fight, especially when there are multiple enemies surrounding you, you’re still able to try and make a run for it.

If you trigger a wild encounter in the world, you can first try to outrun the enemy and get away. However, if they catch you and force a battle stage, you’ll then need to deselect the enemy you are focused on and then make a break for it. Boost out of there successfully and you’ll be awarded with an “Escape” notification on the screen. However, you won’t receive any XP.

It should be noted that story encounters can’t be escaped from. You’ll need to turn and face that scary opponent, sometimes beating the odds to come out on top. If you are struggling with these enemies, it’s sometimes best to load the autosave and gain some additional XP before the fight starts. Buying and assigning recovery items is also a great way of ensuring you’ll survive tougher fights.
