The Elder Scrolls Blades chest timers removed

The Elder Scrolls: Blades chest timers removed

Following the runaway success of Bethesda Game Studios’ first mobile foray, Fallout Shelter, E3 2018 saw the video game company reveal The Elder Scrolls: Blades. Naturally, many fans were supremely excited to see another of their favorite RPG franchises faithfully translated to mobile, but that wasn’t really what they got. The most cited issue by far was the lengthy timers that prevented players from claiming their hard-earned loot for hours and hours on end; unless they paid a premium fee, that is. Bethesda’s upcoming 1.5 update will see  The Elder Scrolls: Blades chest timers removed, however, finally giving fans what they’ve been clamoring for.

Update 1.5 removes chest timers in The Elder Scrolls: Blades

As revealed in the latest “Blades Town Hall” post, update 1.5 is scheduled to drop in “early December” for mobile players on iOS and Android. By far the biggest change scheduled to come to the game next month is the removal of chest timers. Having heard fan feedback, Bethesda acknowledged that the overhaul is being made in an effort to “improve the player experience” for those adventuring through The Elder Scrolls: Blades.

After downloading patch version 1.5, Blades players will finally be able to open any chests that they earn in-game immediately. This will no doubt make for a less stilted and frustrating experience on the whole, though a change this significant is certain to have knock-on effects.

Luckily, Bethesda has already accounted for those, but by moving in the opposite direction to that which you might first assume. Rather than scaling back standard enemy loot drops to counterbalance the increased chest loot, they’re actually increasing drop frequency and quantities. Bosses now pay out more loot and additional environmental breakables have been added, which also play host to loot.

1.5 certainly looks set to be a generous update, geared towards the development team’s new goal of making Blades “as rewarding to play through as it is fun.”
