Where to buy Quick Balls in Pokemon Sword and Shield

In a series with 890 different monsters to collect, one of the ways Game Freak differentiates Pokemon is by creating different requirements for catching, training, and evolving them. Items like evolution stones are sometimes required for Pokemon evolutions, but certain items occasionally help trainers to be able to catch Pokemon in the first place. The Quick Ball makes it easier to catch skittish Pokemon, so this guide will cover where to buy Quick Balls in Pokemon Sword and Shield and how to get them. This is for all you trainers out there annoyed at those pesky Wimpods.

Quick Balls are extremely useful early in the game. They can make catching Pokemon like Wimpod — which has an ability that lets it run away if taken below half HP — an easy task, and it’s especially nice to have for catching Pokemon like Coffing that often use Self Destruct, ruining your chances of catching them. Unfortunately, there’s no way to get them consistently before the endgame.

Quick Balls are sometimes sold for Watts as part of the Wild Area vendors’ daily rotating stock, so you may be able to find some there. Otherwise, the only way to get them early on is through a digital code, available for anyone who purchased Sword or Shield through the Nintendo eShop before January 15, 2020. If you were one of those people, you should have received an offer code for 12 Quick Balls to the email associated with your Nintendo account.

The only place that sells Quick Balls regularly is the Pokemon Center in Wyndon, a town in the northern part of Galar that you’ll only gain access to after you’ve beaten all eight of Pokemon Sword and Shield’s gyms. Follow along with the story to get there, and then you’ll be able to buy Quick Balls for 1,000 Pokedollars each (as well as Luxury Balls and Repeat Balls).
