Pokemon Sword and Shield are full of hidden items and collectibles. While many trainers will mostly be on the lookout for new Pokemon moves and Pokemon evolution stone items, more competitive-minded trainers may be wondering where some classic stat-boosting held items can be found. One of these is Eviolite, which helps unevolved Pokemon perform better in battle. In this guide, we’ll give you everything you need to find the Pokemon Sword and Shield Eviolite location.
Where is the Eviolite in Pokemon Sword and Shield?
To find the Eviolite item, you’ll need to head to Ballonlea, located at the point on the map above. Ballonlea is the home of Galar’s Fairy-type gym, and can only be accessed after you’ve earned the games’ fourth gym badge — either the Ghost badge or the Fighting badge, depending on your version-exclusive gym.

Once you arrive in Ballonlea, head into the house shown above, which is the second residence you’ll come across in town. An NPC called Pokemon Breeder Elena is waiting in the corner inside. She’ll ask you if you want to know how to make your Pokemon strong without evolving them. Say yes, and she’ll challenge you to a battle. She uses an Eviolite-equipped, level-30 Dottler, so use Flying, Rock, Bug, Ghost, Fire, or Dark moves to take it out quickly. Her Dottler uses mostly Psychic Moves, so you should be able to beat her just fine if you avoid using Fighting- or Poison-type Pokemon.
After you defeat Pokemon Breeder Elena, she’ll reward you with the Eviolite. If you give this item to an unevolved Pokemon, it raised Defense and Special Defense. This makes it a great item for sturdy Pokemon like Galarian Corsola that lose defensive stats when they evolve. It also works on Pokemon like Combee and Salandit that only evolve if they’re a certain gender (female, in both of those cases), so it has the potential to make those useless male Pokemon useful.
