The Outer Worlds Dark Character Model Bug | Silhouetted avatar
It must be frustrating to spend all of that time creating the perfect character only to find out that you can’t see them. With The Outer Worlds being a first-person game, the only way you can see your avatar is in the game’s inventory screen.

That should be the case, but multiple players on Reddit have stated that this isn’t the case. Loading up the inventory screen only shows them a silhouette of their character. The lights are on depending on what clothes you’re wearing, but there’s no other color present.
How to Fix The Outer Worlds Dark Character Model Bug
Thankfully, there is a very easy way to resolve this ongoing problem. If you’ve been affected by this, it’s almost certain that you’ll be running the game on a PC with an AMD driver.
What appears to have happened is that the latest update for AMD drivers prevents your PC from being able to render your character’s graphics. That is, to say, that the October AMD update is the cause of your silhouetted character.
If you want to resolve this, you’ll have to reinstall the last update, which will be the September 2019 AMD patch. You’ll need to uninstall your current driver first and then download the September 2019 WHQL one from this link.
