Borderlands 3 Luck stat

Borderlands 3 Luck Stat | What does it do?

While it’s immediately clear what most of the upgradeable statistics in Gearbox Software’s Borderlands 3 do—like damage, health, and fire rate—the Borderlands 3 Luck stat is a little more mysterious. Some players are wondering what it does, while others are asserting that it does nothing at all, but the truth is that it’ll provide different results for different players. Here’s everything you need to know about Luck.

What effect does the Borderlands 3 Luck stat have?

While an increased Luck statistic should help players to receive better loot drops over time, we say it’ll work differently for everybody due to the stat’s inherently random nature. Whether or not you reap the benefits as much as the next person is entirely down to luck (no surprise), so it’s understandable that some players would question its validity over pouring points into, let’s say, damage output, to see guaranteed results.

If you’re a gambling person, however, you might be more inclined to test your hand with a Luck-based build. Here’s how to increase your Luck stat and the in-game effects this should have.

  • Check your Relics for an existing one that boosts Luck and equip it
    • If you don’t have one, keep playing and cross your fingers for a drop
  • If you’ve completed the main storyline of Borderlands 3 and unlocked Guardian Ranks, level up in order to earn Guardian Tokens
  • Spend your Guardian Tokens on the “Luck” Bonus Stat from the “Hunter” section
  • With the Borderlands 3 Luck stat now boosted, players will have an increased chance of securing better loot drops
  • This chance can be further increased by devoting additional Guardian Tokens to the statistic, bettering your chances of securing:
    • Rare loot drops
    • Very rare loot drops
    • Legendary loot drops

Hopefully you’ll start to see better payouts from defeated enemies sooner rather than later. It also couldn’t hurt to keep any real-world lucky charms close by, right?
