If you’re here, you’re probably wondering if there is any ongoing Splatoon 2 maintenance. The chances are that, yes, Splatoon 2 servers are down for scheduled maintenance. This means that you will be unable to play the game online until the maintenance has ended. Annoying, yes, but there will always be a good reason for it on Nintendo’s end.

Typically speaking, if Splatoon 2 is down for server maintenance, it means that Nintendo is in the process of applying a new title update. While it is annoying that you can’t play the game online when maintenance is ongoing, there will likely be an update available at the end of it. While this won’t always be the case, it usually is. You may find that the maintenance is taking place in order to update the servers in some way, as well. Whatever the reason, it will take some time for Nintendo to complete the maintenance.

Sadly, these server downtimes will take some time to complete. Unfortunately, it is somewhat difficult to predict how long any such maintenance might take. We’ve given it a go, anyway. Nintendo’s Network Maintenance Information page should let you know how long the maintenance should take, however. We recommend checking back there to see if it contains the details you need. Normally, it appears as though the maintenance can last up to around two hours.
