Destiny 2 Shadowkeep introduces you to Sanctuary, which serves as the hub area for the Moon. One of the secrets this area holds is a fun easter egg which harkens back to the purple ball from the Destiny 1 Tower. We’ll show you how to find the terminal locations around Sanctuary to activate the purple ball easter egg in Destiny 2 Shadowkeep.
How to reset the terminals in Sanctuary in Destiny 2 Shadowkeep
There are twelve terminals scattered around Sanctuary that can be part of this puzzle. All of them but one will be dark. To begin the process of unlocking this easter egg, you’ll need to find the terminal that has a glowing orange screen. Note, there is one terminal that will either glow teal and ask for 5 Helium Filaments or if the screen is orange, has a tire nearby for the Tire Game. This terminal is not part of the easter egg.
When you’re near the correct orange-screened computer, you will get a prompt to “Reset Terminal.” Do so, and you’ll get a message that says, “The Terminal hums, waking another nearby.” This means you just need to hunt around for the next terminal.
Most of the terminals in Sanctuary in Destiny 2 Shadowkeep are easy to find. However, the one that’ll likely stump most people is located on a small ledge behind where Eris Morn stands. The others aren’t too tucked away. You can look below for locations of all the terminals if you get stuck.
Once you’ve reset the fifth terminal, you’ll get the message you’ll get a message that, “A mysterious bridge appears.” You’ll notice in the south part of the Sanctuary that three floating rocks extend out towards the structure in the distance. You can jump from rock to rock and land on one of the struts.
On this strut, you’ll find a panel on the wall that allows you to donate 5,000 Glimmer. Do so, and cross back over to Sanctuary. Look around near where Eris Morn is standing, and you should see the purple ball.
What does the purple ball do in Sanctuary in Destiny 2 Shadowkeep
For now, it seems like the purple ball might just be a reference to the original Destiny, a homage of sorts. However, it is likely that it’s part of a more significant easter egg. We haven’t yet solved the full meaning of the purple ball, but we’ll update this article if there’s more to it than it seems at first glance.
Unfortunately, the purple ball doesn’t unlock permanently. So, if you want to experiment with kicking it around you’ll need to do the terminal puzzle each time.
Destiny 2 Shadowkeep Sanctuary Terminal Locations
Here’s where you can find all the terminals on the Moon in Destiny 2 Shadowkeep.
Terminal 1
This is the hardest to find terminal. It’s on a ledge near where Eris Morn stands.
Terminal 2
This terminal is on the west end of the platform where Eris Morn is hanging out.
Terminal 3
This terminal is by an antenna south of Eris Morn.
Terminals 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9
These terminals are located underneath the platform in the southwest of Sanctuary. One is by the door outside, and five are in the room inside. I’ve never seen the interior ones light up, but I wanted to list them in case they do.
Terminals 10, 11
These two terminals are just east of the last bunch. I’m pretty sure the five terminal sequence always ends with the one on the right, but I’d have to experiment more to be sure.
Terminal 12
This terminal is southeast of Eris Morn and is one of the easier ones to overlook.
The 12 above terminals are the ones you want to be looking for to activate the purple ball easter egg in Destiny 2 Shadowkeep. Again, it’s entirely possible that the purple ball is just one part of a larger easter egg, but we don’t know for sure yet.
