No Man's Sky Making Money

No Man’s Sky Making Money | How to farm units quickly

No Man’s Sky is all about charting the galaxy and making your way through it however you want to, but just like in real life, no matter what you do, sooner or later it comes down to having money. While the game is about exploring as many planets as you can and interacting with other players, at least as part of the Beyond update, in No Man’s Sky making money is still a vital part of the experience if you want to progress. Here are the best ways we could find to farm money and get units as quickly as possible.

No Man’s Sky Making Money | Taking missions

No Man's Sky Making Money missions

Just like in many RPGs or sandbox games, one of the best and most straightforward ways to get units in No Man’s Sky is to accept and complete missions. Head to the various vendors in the game, who are usually at space stations but may have ventured outside in the new update, and they’ll have various missions for you to complete. These can be anything from recovering artifacts to killing Sentinels. Of course, with all this, the bigger the reputation you have, the higher a reward you’ll get for everything.

Freighter missions are also really solid ways of earning money, first by defending them from hostiles or, after you’ve completed that and actually got your own freighter, building a Control Room and sending it out to collect resources. You can then do exploration, industrial or combat missions of your own to collect resources as rewards, which you can then sell.

No Man’s Sky Making Money | Whispering Eggs

One of the latest updates for the game added a new threat called Biological Horrors and, yes, they’re basically Aliens. However, if you don’t mind a little danger, their eggs can be harvested for a lot of units. These Whispering Eggs can earn you 60K to 90K units each, and you can gather loads of them at a time. First you’ll need to use your analysis visor to find some abandoned buildings, you can even do this from orbit. Then park your ship as close as possible to the building, because you’ll need to get away fast.

You’ve got a choice now: either risk the wrath of the Biological Horrors, or set up some walls first. You’ll need to build a Base Computer if you wish the latter, then use Carbon to set up four walls around some Whispering Egg nests. Next, once you’re sure, mine the eggs and grab the Larval Cores inside, but make sure to shoot one outside of your “box” first so the Horrors head there. Get as many Cores as you can then jetpack to your ship, unless you’re feeling confident enough to fight the beasts off. Remember what happened to the Colonial Marines…

No Man’s Sky Making Money | Digging for dinosaur bones

No Man's Sky Making Money bones

One of the easiest and best ways to earn lots of money quickly early on in No Man’s Sky is by finding planets with Ancient Bones. Scan planets, and in the scan data you’ll find these bones. These dinosaur skeletons can be found on the surface, and while you may need to dig a bit first to get hold of these fossils, they’re fairly easy to get hold of. Grab them, sell them at the nearest outpost, and you’ll make an absolute fortune in no time at all.

No Man’s Sky Making Money | Upgrade scanner

Here’s another straightforward way of making loads of money in No Man’s Sky, non-violently and without any danger to yourself: upgrade your scanner as often as possible. Every time you go to a station, check the multitool vendor for new upgrades. If you find a S-class scanner module, pick it up immediately. Then, just get scanning, particularly any local animals. The more upgrades you have, the more you’ll get for scanning new creatures, even up to as high as two million units a time!
