Evo 2019 finals

Evo 2019 Finals | Game order and schedule

The biggest fighting game tournament of the year is just around the corner. Evo 2019 will bring the best fighting game players to Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada from August 2 to August 4 to compete in a variety of titles, some of which are new to the tournament. Packed with tons of matches throughout the weekend, the moments you will not want to miss will be during the Evo 2019 Finals. So just in case you want to know where it’s all happening, here are the Evo 2019 Finals game order and schedule.

Evo 2019 Finals | Finals game order and schedule

So, when can you expect a champion to be crowned for your favorite game at Evo 2019? This is the Finals game order according to President of Evo, Joey Cuellar:

  • Friday, August 2: Soul Calibur 6
  • Saturday, August 3: Under Night In-Birth Exe: Late[st], Dragon Ball FighterZ, Samurai Shodown, Mortal Kombat 11
  • Sunday, August 4: Blazblue Cross Tag Battle, Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, Tekken 7, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Specific times for each Final have yet to be revealed. It may not be reliable to look at last year’s schedule to reference since there were eight total games at Evo 2018 as opposed to the nine this year. Additionally, there were no Finals held during the first day of last year’s event, making it harder to predict. With that being said, the earliest Finals was at 8 AM PT (Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2) on a Saturday and the latest was at 8 PM PT on a Sunday (Super Smash Bros. for Wii U).

The reason for this particular order may be in part due to the number of players competing in each match. Here are the number of participants in each game according to Cuellar:

  • Super Smash Bros. Ultimate — 3,492
  • Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition — 1,929
  • Tekken 7 — 1,885
  • Samurai Shodown — 1,719
  • Mortal Kombat 11 — 1,567
  • Under Night In-Birth Exe: Late[st] — 1,156
  • Dragon Ball FighterZ — 1,191
  • Soul Calibur 6 — 742
  • Blazblue Cross Tag Battle — 640

Soul Calibur 6 has one of the lowest player counts with 742 participants despite it being one of the more recognizable names on the list. Getting through pools will be much quicker than most of the games on this list, making it a good candidate to close out the first night.

The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Finals will be closing out Evo 2019. Again, this is probably partly due to how many competitors there are, with a staggering 3,492 participants, as well as name recognition. This will also be the first time since 2012 we don’t see Super Smash Bros. Melee at Evo, making Ultimate the only Smash Bros. game at the tournament.
