Crash Team Racing 1.07 Update Patch Notes

Crash Team Racing 1.07 Update Patch Notes | Skin renaming and shortcut changes

The Crash Team Racing 1.07 update patch notes are a similar story. They are incredibly vague and don’t truly describe what is new and what is different in Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled. “Bug fixes” doesn’t exactly seem like the best way to convey what is in the patch and is a good way to hide what the update actually does. However, with some digging, we found out at least some of what is in these mysterious new patch notes. Beenox has not only neutered an exploitative shortcut but it also quietly addressed a criticism of one of the game’s skins.

Crash Team Racing 1.07 Update Patch Notes | Skin renaming

As was pointed out earlier, Beenox has renamed the “racially insensitive” Watermelon Tawna skin to “Summertime Tawna.” This skin for the new racer caught heat for using a darker complexion alongside watermelon. Together, it conjures an uncomfortable stereotype towards black people in the United States. It was likely unintentional as it fixed within a week. The skin still looks exactly the same.

This also applies to the “White Tawna” skin as it is now called “White Tiger Tawna.” The “Black Zem” and “Black N. Tropy” skins have also been similarly changed in this patch.

Crash Team Racing 1.07 Update Patch Notes | Shortcut changes

The 1.07 update also addressed a cheap shortcut within Papu’s Pyramid. If players boosted off the right path in the map right off the starting line, they could almost bypass the entire track. This was obviously an oversight and it has been corrected. This is similar to the last patch that took out the ability to hop around to the end of the Thunder Struck track. It appears that other lap skip glitches in Coco Park and Electron Avenue might have also been addressed but we don’t know for sure yet. Regardless, it looks like Beenox will have to keep on these constant exploits to ensure that online races a bit more fair.
