Final Fantasy 7 Remake Xbox One

Is there a Final Fantasy 7 Remake Xbox One port?

Ever since it was announced, fans have been wondering if there will be a Final Fantasy 7 Remake Xbox One port. We know that the game is coming to PS4, but nobody is sure if Microsoft’s console will be getting a version of the remaster. To answer this question once and for all, we’ve provided all the details in our Final Fantasy 7 Remake Xbox One guide below.

Is there a Final Fantasy 7 Remake Xbox One edition?

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Xbox One

Let’s get the obvious out of the way first. No, there isn’t a Final Fantasy 7 Remake Xbox One port coming to Microsoft’s console. The remaster of the beloved RPG is a PS4 exclusive title, which means you can’t play it on Xbox One.

There’s always a slim possibility that it could be brought to Xbox One in the future. That’s an extremely slim chance, however, when you consider that Microsoft’s next-gen console is coming out next year. Microsoft announced Project Scarlett officially for the first time at its E3 2019 press conference, and any games currently in development will be made for that.

That means that it’s very late in the day for Square Enix to make a port for Xbox One users, and almost certainly won’t happen.

Why isn’t there a Final Fantasy 7 Remake Xbox One version?

The basic answer to this Final Fantasy 7 Remake Xbox One port query is that Final Fantasy 7 only came out on the original PlayStation back in the day. Back then Microsoft didn’t even have ambitions of making a home console. Square’s relationship with Sony was strong then, too, so it was only logical that the game came out on Sony’s first home console.

Times have changed since then, and many games are now developed with a multiplatform release in mind. Not so for Final Fantasy 7 Remake though. In something of a nostalgic twist, Square Enix has opted to keep it for the PS4 only, which means Xbox One owners will miss out on playing it.
