Dreams PlayStation Plus | Do I need a PS Plus subscription to play Dreams Early Access?

If you’re thinking of playing Dreams on PS4 then you’re probably already considering the likelihood of a Dreams PlayStation Plus roadblock getting in the way of all of your big creative ideas and squiggles that’ll eventually turn into a game. One day. Maybe. The question of whether you need a PS Plus subscription to play Dreams Early Access from today, however, is another matter entirely. Below, we’ll look at whether – like Little Big Planet – you’re good to play a large chunk of the game without PS Plus, or whether you must have a PlayStation Plus subscription to play online in Dreams.

Dreams PlayStation Plus

Thankfully, you don’t! A FAQ on Discord, recently posted on Reddit, involved Media Molecule answering a long, long list of questions. Among them was whether you needed a PlayStation Plus subscription to play Dreams.

The studio has confirmed that you don’t need an active PS Plus membership for any aspect of the Early Access, which will include an early look at the creation tools on offer, but no Dreams Story Mode.

Will I need a PlayStation Plus subscription to play user-created levels in Dreams?

Dreams PlayStation Plus

At the time of writing, you won’t need a PlayStation Plus membership at all in Dreams. That has been confirmed by a Media Molecule member on Discord (via Reddit) who says that “You won’t need PS Plus to see all the creations in Dreams.” But that could all change upon full release.

The possibility of co-op with others users hasn’t been brought up just yet, and won’t form part of the Dreams Early Access framework, but may be one of the few times where users may face a Dreams PlayStation Plus quandary. Only then will you have to decide whether or not to buy a membership just to play online with their friends on Dreams.
