There have been lots of complaints recently about performance issues with The Division 2, especially on PS4. Players are experiencing extreme lag when trying to move around, as well as frame rate drops and overall poor gameplay experiences. This can make for a miserable time with any game and can turn players off to a game completely. Issues like these can begin to make you wonder if you should cancel your pre-order and wait for the game to get their issues fixed or if you shouldn’t stress it because issues will be resolved shortly. The Divison 2 Performance Issues | Why is my game running slow?
As with any game at launch, issues are almost always inevitable. No matter how hard developers try to test and prevent issues, something always seems to come up. For The Divison 2, one of those issues is with frame rate drops and a lag when playing the game. Players mostly seem to be having issues with getting The Division 2 to consistently run at 60 fps and are seeing the game dipping below that despite having the necessary hardware to run it at an even higher fps.
Take a deep breath, because these issues don’t have anything to do with your hardware. They are due to the servers that The Divison 2 is running on. Some players have reported having similar issues with the original The Divison, so longtime fans are probably very familiar with this issue happening from time to time. It is unfortunate to see The Division 2 having the same issues that its predecessor had in 2016.
The Division 2 Performance Issues | What can I do to fix it?
The short answer is nothing. Since most of the performance issues that players are experiencing have to do with the servers that The Division 2 is running on, it’s pretty much out of your hands. The best thing to do is just wait it out. Fans have made sure that Ubisoft is aware of the performance issues and they are no doubt working on a fix. Server issues can happen for a variety of reasons and are usually addressed within a timely manner!
However, some players have had luck with tweaking some of the in-game settings, but that is pretty much a guessing game. If you do attempt to tweak the settings, you will need to close out of the game and load it back up to see if they worked.
Ubisoft has announced a day one patch for The Divison 2, that could also help with performance issues. There will be a Title 1 Update Patch that will be between 50-92GB, depending on the device that you’re playing on. Xbox One and PC users can expect a 48-52GB patch, while PlayStation 4 users can expect an 88-92GB patch. Additionally, there will be a Title 1.5 Update Patch on March 11th, that will be 2GB and will mostly address missing audio. Due to the massive size of this patch, it’s likely that it could help with performance issues that players are experiencing. However, we don’t know for sure yet, since Ubisoft hasn’t specified exactly what the patch will address.
The Division 2 Performance Issues | Should I cancel my preorder?
While I know it can be incredibly frustrating to have waited so long on a game and then experience performance issues, I don’t think this is going to be a big hindrance for The Division 2. The game doesn’t fully release until March 15, even though players who preordered it get three days of early access, so there is still plenty of time for fixes to come. In fact, often times the “early access” periods are for developers to make tweaks to their game before the full-fledged launch. It is likely that with the early access period beginning, the servers are a bit overloaded and it’s causing performance issues. I have full confidence that this will be taken care of and not be a big deal for The Division 2 players in the long run.
Performance issues suck and can make a gameplay experience miserable. The frame rate and optimization issues that are currently plaguing The Division 2 likely seem to be due to servers being overloaded, with more and more players accessing the game. If you’re experiencing these issues, the best thing to do is to play another game for a little bit and wait this one out.
The Division 2 will launch on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on March 15, 2019.

What's better than wandering through ruined buildings and chatting it up with starving locals? Zooming past them on your retrofitted motorbike! Race with other thrillseekers on the roads of civilization's end, avoid sinkholes, and deathtraps on your way to the assuredly dented golden trophy. -
Fallout: New Vegas
Roll the dice on New Vegas, the greatest little set of casinos in the Wasteland. Stay in the Lucky 38 and be Mr. House's special guest, or take your chances across the street at the Ultra-Luxe. Just don't try the steak unless you have a strong stomach. -
