The PS4 6.50 System Software Update has just gone live and, let’s get the big thing out of the way first: there are no PSN ID changes forthcoming. Sorry about that. What there is, however, is a brand-new PS4 Remote Play on iOS feature, alongside a handful of other new, if minor changes. Read on to find out what’s changed in the new PS4 update 6.50 and the full changelog of PS4 System Update patch notes.
PS4 6.50 System Software Update
Remote play
While it’s perhaps not the best way to get the most out of your PS4, you can now control it using a brand-new iOS app through the Apple App Store on compatible iPhones and iPads. Unfortunately, DualShock 4 controllers are not able to be used with the PS4 Remote Play app, making the whole thing a frustrating experience more than anything else.
Still, it’s pretty cool (and semi-useful) to have another screen available to fumble through the PS4 menus if you so wish. You can even play games via your iDevice, but I’d recommend getting a serviceable controller before you embarrass yourself online. But be warned, only iPhones running iOS 12.1 or later, or sixth-generation iPads are able to download and use the software.
New “Enter” Button
If you so wish, you can now mix things up when it comes to pressing “Enter” (essentially, pressing the button to start apps, games, and the like) from the Circle Button to the X button and vice-versa. Head to Settings and then scroll down to System. Once there, you’ll see a checkbox to change it over. However, this is only available in “certain regions” as per the patch notes (which you can see below) and the UK is confirmed to not be one of them.

You can now enjoy Remote Play on iOS devices. You can use PS4 Remote Play to connect your PS4 system from devices such as smartphones and tablets. Download (PS4 Remote Pla from the App Store.
Other Features
You can now choose 720p when you broadcast using Niconico Live. This service is available only in certain countries and regions.
You can now change the button assignment to perform “Enter” operations from the Circle button to the X button. Select Settings > System, and then select the checkbox for Use X Button for Enter. This option is available only for specific countries and regions.
