It may finally be available to catch, but there’s a Pokemon Go Smeargle not appearing bug that’s already causing frustration among players. Some are being left annoyed that they can’t catch Smeargle to add it to their collection. Find out what the Pokemon Go Smeargle not appearing bug fix is with our guide.

Pokemon Go Smeargle not appearing bug glitch error

Let’s start off with when Smeargle started appearing in Pokemon Go. According to Serebii.net, the dog-like, normal-type Pokemon begun randomly showing up in Pokemon Go‘s Snapshot mode on Monday. Players were taking pictures of some of their already captured critters and, whether it was on the first or 50th photograph, Smeargle would randomly photobomb a picture.

Exiting out of Snapshot mode would provide players with a chance to finally catch Smeargle and, if they did, their Smeargle would have the same moveset as the Pokemon it photobombed. Or it would, if the Pokemon Go Smeargle not appearing bug caused it to disappear after exiting Snapshot mode. Countless players have taken to the game’s Reddit page to see why it isn’t showing up and to seek a fix for the issue.

We hate to break it to you, but the Pokemon Go Smeargle not appearing bug doesn’t have a solution yet. Smeargle’s appearances are very glitchy right now, which is likely to be down to Snapshot mode only being introduced itself recently.

There’s been no word from Niantic about Smeargle’s official confirmation as a Pokemon to catch in their game. Smeargle’s appearances, however, show that it’s indeed available in the game for catching.

Your best bet is to just keep taking photographs, hoping Smeargle photobombs you and then sticks around after to be caught. It’s either that or wait for Niantic to properly patch it in and sort out this glitch.
