Finding yourself on low health in Anthemmore often than not? While not an overtly tricky game, per se, the Anthem healing conundrum can rear its ugly head when you least expect it. Namely, it appears that there are no medkits and no health regen, a rarity for a AAA game in this day and age. Below, we’ll take you through all you need to know about Anthem healing, for those who want to patch themselves up ASAP, regain health quickly, or even how to stop losing health thanks to your Javelin choice.
How to regain health in Anthem
There’s only one way to regain health in Anthem, and that’s to kill enemies. Slaughtering Scars and Dominions will make them drop little red pyramics, which you can see above. They’re symbolized in-game by heart icons. Pick them up and you’ll regain a fraction of your health bar.
Is health regen in Anthem?
Unfortunately not. It may seem like an odd design choice, especially as health regeneration is a mainstay in the industry now and has been for some time, but you can’t simply keep to a distance and see your health bar rapidly fill up. Everything must come from killing enemies and picking up their downed hearts.
How to avoid losing health quickly
There are a couple of things you can do to avoid losing health quickly in Anthem. Firstly, choose the Colossus, should you have the means to acquire it and/or already unlocked it for use. Not only does it come with a superior health bar compared to the other Javelins, but it’s also got a portable shield you can hold up, which is perfect for when you’re a bit overwhelmed.
Also, it wouldn’t hurt (pun intended, through gritted teeth) to adapt your playstyle. By running and gunning, in a manner not too dissimilar to 2016’s Doom reboot, you’ll be able to down enemies and regain health far, far more quickly than you would otherwise. Taking Anthem and playing it like a standard shooter, one without a kinetic edge, is tantamount of suicide at times. Keep shooting, keep moving, and those hearts will start flying in no time.
