Crackdown 3 Locked at 30 FPS on PC

Crackdown 3 Locked at 30 FPS on PC | Can I play with an unlocked framerate?

Oh dear, it seems that there’s a Crackdown 3 locked at 30 FPS on PC problem. The latest entry in the series doesn’t have a support system in place for a frame rate higher than this in co-op mode. There should be way to play with an unlocked framerate on PC though. Find out if Crackdown 3 is permanently locked at 30 FPS on PC or not with our guide.

Is Crackdown 3 Locked at 30 FPS on PC?

Yes, but only in co-op mode. The game doesn’t allow two players to exceed the 30 FPS limit due to the issue of causing lag and a reduced frame rate with two controlled players on screen.

It seems weird that Microsoft and Sumo Digital wouldn’t have an option for a frame rate higher than 30 FPS for Crackdown 3‘s co-op mode, especially on PC. With the amount of upgrades on the market, the processing power of PCs today should allow 60 FPS to be achievable. Unfortunately, that simply isn’t the case here, so you’ll have to make do with 30 FPS if you play online with a friend.

Thankfully, the same issue doesn’t crop up in Crackdown 3‘s single player mode. The game’s campaign mode doesn’t have a capped frame rate, so you’ll be fine with gaming at 60 FPS or higher if you’re playing solo in Crackdown 3.

The title is said to support unlocked frame rates in multiplayer, though, so give it a whirl. Speaking to PC Gamer ahead of the game’s launch day, Xbox Studios’ lead engineer Brian Stone revealed that “a lot of careful diligence on our side” ensured that this was possible.

If that’s truly the case, it is even stranger that Crackdown 3‘s PC co-op mode is capped at 30 FPS. If the game’s co-op mode was a late addition to development, it would be almost impossible to sort this issue out. Otherwise, there’s no real reason why it should be capped.
