Pokemon Go Valentine's Day event

Pokemon Go Valentine’s Day event | Release date, bonuses, and more

A Pokemon Go Valentine’s Day event for 2019 is on its way for all of those lovebugs out there. Not content with all of the other special events that they’ve patched through recently, Niantic are keeping the tempo up with this themed event too. Here’s when the Pokemon Go Valentine’s Day event release date could be, as well as what bonuses could be on offer.

Pokemon Go Valentine's Day event release date

You would expect that the Pokemon Go Valentine’s Day event release date would be, well, on Valentine’s Day. However, last year’s event saw the even begin on February 13 and run through until February 15. We could see a similar three-day event occur in 2019 too but, until Niantic confirm as much, we can only speculate on that.

Other recent events, such as the Lunar New Year and Friendship weekend ones, have begun at 1 PM PST (4 PM EST and 9 PM GMT) too, so expect any event to start around this time.

Pokemon Go Valentine's Day event bonuses pink

There’s not much to go on yet. Niantic revealed that more pink Pokemon would spawn wherever you are in the world, but declined to elaborate on which will turn up more regularly than usual.

The 2018 Pokemon Go Valentine’s Day event saw schools of Luvdisc spawn all over the place, and give three times as much stardust to trainers who managed to catch one. Catching Chansey also gave you three times as much stardust, while players also had the chance to catch shiny versions of Luvdisc if they were lucky.

The inclusion of gen 4 Pokemon recently could spark a wave of pink Pokemon from this bunch spawning too. Lickililly, who can only be obtained by evolving Lickitung with the Sinnoh Stone, could spawn in the wild. Others, like gen 2 Pokemon Miltank, could also feature.

Once Niantic divulges exactly what its plan is for this, we’ll update this page to let you know.
