A new free-to-play battle royale experience is now available to download, install, and hopefully play. However, those of you with aging systems may be a little anxious about experiencing Apex Legends PC performance issues. Thankfully, developer Respawn Entertainment has detailed the Apex Legends system requirements, for both the minimum and recommended setups. Let’s dive into the PC requirements and figure out whether or not your PC can run Apex Legends smoothly and at a high-enough resolution.
Apex Legends System Requirements | Minimum PC requirements
Your collection of hardware components should hopefully equal or better Apex Legends minimum PC requirements. These are as follows:
- OS: 64-bit Windows 10
- CPU: Intel Core i3-6300 3.8GHz / AMD FX-4350 4.2 GHz Quad-Core Processor
- RAM: 6GB
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 / Radeon HD 7700
- GPU RAM: 1 GB
- HARD DRIVE: Minimum 30 GB of free space
Of course, older hardware that matches or exceeds the tech listed here may well work. Respawn Entertainment has provided some good examples which should give a decent idea of what your PC will be up against.
As this is a free-to-play title, there really is no harm in downloading it to see if it’s playable. Whereas it’s important to know PC requirements ahead of a paid game launch, there’s no money to be wasted when it comes to a free title.
I’d also encourage players to tweak the in-game settings, of which there are many. Achieving the Apex Legends best PC settings combination could allow for a near-smooth experience on lesser hardware. Don’t give up too early!
Apex Legends System Requirements | Recommended PC requirements
For those wanting to experience a smooth 60 FPS and above — presumably at 1080p, though Respawn Entertainment hasn’t specified — you’ll need to be rocking more powerful hardware. Fortunately, the recommended PC specifications aren’t too demanding.
- OS: 64-bit Windows 10
- CPU: Intel i5 3570K or equivalent
- RAM: 8GB
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 / AMD Radeon R9 290
- GPU RAM: 8GB
- HARD DRIVE: Minimum 30 GB of free space
The 8 GB of GPU ram is a little strange to see here, as neither of the recommended GPUs have 8 GB of VRAM available to use. I’d personally ignore this spec and just ensure that you match the 970/R9 290 or above.
