Black Ops 4 Blackout Respawn Mode – How to play Down But Not Out

Introducing the Black Ops 4 Blackout Respawn Mode, the first new game mode that has been added to Call of Duty Black Ops 4 since its release back in October 2018. If you’re confused as to exactly what the Black Ops 4 Down But Not Out mode is, then this guide is for you. Read on to discover what the new limited time mode is and how you can play it.

What is the Black Ops 4 Blackout Respawn Mode, Down But Not Out?

Black Ops 4 Blackout Respawn Mode

As the headline suggests, respawns are on the way to Black Ops 4 Blackout. Battle Royale games and modes are typically survival-based affairs, with the last man or team standing taking home the win. Down But Not Out changes things, however. It introduces a respawn mechanic. While Fortnite’s Team Rumble added in a similar feature, it’s nice to see Treyarch stirring the pot a little.

Unfortunately, you cannot simply respawn as you’d like in Down But Not Out. Your teammates will be able to respawn you after each circle collapse comes to an end. This means that at least one of your squad has to be alive for you to respawn, only after the last circle collapse finishes, mind. Upon respawning you will be given a basic, small loadout (includes a pistol, a few bandages, and a perk), so you aren’t completely useless. You will have to drop in again via helicopter.

Down But Not Out can only be played in Blackout Squads mode. This is the one that puts you in squads up to four players, so there will be no Duos Down But Not Out mode. There are more limitations, too. It is a limited time mode. It began on PS4 on January 16, 2019, and is live  for two weeks until January 30, 2019 (10 AM PT). Those of us playing Black Ops 4 on Xbox One or PC, however, will have to wait until January 23, 2019, to start playing. Down But Not Out will be gone after 10 AM PT on January 30, 2019, on all platforms.
