How to Cancel an Xbox Game Pass Subscription

Want to know how to cancel an Xbox Game Pass subscription? Whether it’s a Christmas gift or something you no longer have any use for, it’s not actually more difficult than ever to cancel Game Pass thanks to one very small change. However, it can be done if you follow our how-to guide on cancelling your Xbox Game Subscription before it renews. So, if you don’t want to play Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice or won’t be booting up Pro Evolution Soccer 2019 anytime soon, all the info is down below.

How to Cancel an Xbox Game Pass Subscription

Before you do anything, you’re going to need to head to your region’s Xbox.com landing page and log in.

Next, click the “Subscriptions & services” link on the top of the page. From there, it’s really simple: you’ll land on a page with all of your active subscriptions. Press “Manage” on your Xbox Game Pass subscription (it should be the first link to the right of it) and then press Cancel. Follow the instructions and, hey presto, your subscription will now no longer renew on the date listed, but you’ll still have access to it up until that date.

Can I Cancel an Xbox Game Pass Subscription on Console?

Weirdly, that’s no longer an option. Microsoft has removed the feature to cancel an Xbox Game Pass subscription on console, presumably to help retain rate for those who aren’t willing to trawl through Xbox.com. The joke’s on them. We’ve made everything super easy now.

Can I Get an Refund if I Cancel an Xbox Game Pass Subscription Early?

It appears that if you take the $1/£1 introductory offer for the Xbox Game Pass, you’re able to get a refund through your payment method, which isn’t too shabby, all told. Otherwise, you’re all paid up until the Xbox Game Pass subscription ends.
