Square Enix and Avalanche Studios’ Just Cause 4 is releasing on December 4, 2018, on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. As with Just Cause 2 and 3 before it, many players are wondering whether or not there will be Just Cause 4 multiplayer. Read on to discover all there is to know about the multiplayer offerings featured in Just Cause 4.
Is there Just Cause 4 Multiplayer?
According to PCGamesN, there will be no official multiplayer mode in Just Cause 4. While neither Just Cause 2 or 3 featured official multiplayer options, there was some hope that, due to the success of the multiplayer mods released for both games, that an official Just Cause 4 multiplayer mode would be in the works. Unfortunately, that does not appear to be the case.
However, that isn’t to say that there’s no type of online interaction in Just Cause 4. In the vanilla offering of Just Cause 3, there were plenty of online leaderboards you could take part in. We aren’t surprised at all to see these return in Just Cause 4. All those races, long-distance gliding, and stunts will be tallied against your friends.
Will There Ever Be Just Cause 4 Multiplayer?
In today’s world of patches, updates, and DLC, there is certainly a never-say-never attitude when it comes to potential new features being added to games after launch. This is especially true of Just Cause 4. While there won’t be any multiplayer in Just Cause 4 at launch, there is always the chance that it will come to the game at a later date, be it as an official add-on or via a PC-only mod. Both Just Cause 2 and 3 had successful multiplayer mods developed a while after launch, after all, and these proved so popular that one of the lead designers of the Just Cause 3 multiplayer mod was hired by Avalanche Studios just in time to work on Just Cause 4.
So, with fingers crossed, we might just see a Just Cause 4 multiplayer mode come to the game at some point in the future.
