Fallout 76 MG42 Plan Location – Where is the LMG?

If you want to know where the Fallout 76 MG42 plan location is, it can be tricky to even know where to look in the first place. The LMG itself, one of the most powerful and rarest weapons in the game, is found at random spawns all over Appalachia but, if you want to guarantee yourself a MG42 every single time, you’re going to need to get your hands on those documents. Here’s how to find the MG42 plan in Fallout 76.

Fallout 76 MG42 Plan Location

Much like with the lever action rifle location, you’re going to want to track down some of the Responder vendor bots that are dotted around the map. While our vendor locations lowdown will give you the complete scoop, here are a few locations that you should try out for yourself, including places where we, ourselves, have had some luck:

  • Lewisburg Station
  • Morgantown Station
  • Watoga Station
  • Welch Station
  • Whitespring Station

Of course, not every single Responder vendor is going to have the MG42 plans for sale. It all depends on what has gone down previously in your server, so feel free to hop about until you get the desired results. Also, you should be aware that you need to be level 30 for the game to even unlock these plans for sale, and you’ll need a Gunsmith level of 4 before you can craft the LMG.

How to Craft the MG42 in Fallout 76

First up, you’re going to need to have a weapons workbench ready and available to use, plus the aforementioned level 4 Gunsmith ability so you can actually craft the MG42 in the first place. Then, there’s a bunch of materials you need to get together.

  • Aluminum (x20)
  • Gear (x15)
  • Rubber (x4)
  • Spring (x5)
  • Steel (x10)
  • Screw (x12)

All fairly straightforward, though you might want to take a browse at our screw farm guide if you’re running a little low on that particular resource. And there you have it: one MG42 ready and waiting to pepper some holes in Super Mutants, Scorchers, and whatever else is standing in your way.
