Pokemon Let's Go DLC

Pokemon Let’s Go DLC – Is There an Expansion Release Date?

While Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee haven’t been out for long, plenty of players have already beaten the game. This has led to questions of “is there any DLC in Pokemon Let’s Go?” Find out all you need to know about any incoming and potential Pokemon Let’s Go DLC below.

Is There Going to Be an Expansion to Pokemon Let’s Go?

As of writing, there is no Pokemon Let’s Go DLC available. While this might come as unfortunate news for those of us who have already completed the game, there is a sliver of hope that Nintendo and Game Freak will create some and add it in further down the line. DLC hasn’t really been a big focus for Nintendo historically, but more and more Nintendo Switch games are receiving extra content after launch these days. Indeed, current Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa explains that DLC is something the company is focused on in order to expand its efforts into the future: “We need continuous growth. We must keep releasing new software. That includes DLCs and other contents for big titles that are already out.”

There is some potential room for DLC in Pokemon Let’s Go, too. For the original Generation One remake (Fire Red and Leaf Green), Nintendo added in the Sevii Islands. The islands made up a good portion of the post-game content in Fire Red and Leaf Green, but they are absent from Pokemon Let’s Go. There is a chance that Nintendo and Game Freak may wish to add these islands in as DLC, although there has yet to be any official word.

Pokemon Let’s Go DLC – Previous-Generation Pokemon in Let’s Go

Alongside any potential addition of the Sevii Islands, Nintendo and Game Freak could decide to add Pokemon from future Generations into Let’s Go. While it doesn’t seem likely, new Pokemon are added to Pokemon games fairly frequently via Mystery Gift distributions. Game Freak Executive Director Junichi Masuda had this to say when asked if future generations could appear in Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee: “Not right now – we’ll kind of, or what we’re looking forward to most right now is how the game is received. We’ll see it’s reception amongst all the players.”

There’s always hope that Nintendo and Game Freak will make some DLC for Pokemon Let’s Go, but at least we’ll only have to wait a year before playing a brand-new Generation of Pokemon on Switch.
