Fans of Red Dead Redemption have been getting immersed in Red Dead Redemption 2 ever since the game launched last week, but what about Red Dead Redemption 2 VR? Although Rockstar’s game has had the most successful launch in entertainment history, it’s only available on two platforms: PS4 and Xbox One. Those who want to join in on the action have had to either play on console or miss out on the fun. However, a recent datamining session has confirmed that a VR version of Red Dead Redemption 2 may be on the way. Those of you who have an Oculus Rift, PSVR, or HTC Vive may be in luck!
Red Dead Redemption 2 VR Version
RockstarINTEL shared details of the datamining session that revealed the code including details of a Red Dead Redemption 2 PC version and a Red Dead Redemption 2 VR version. This comes on top of a Rockstar employee’s LinkedIn profile including details of PC work and certain retailers listing PC editions of Red Dead Redemption 2 in their catalogs.
The code was datamined from the Red Dead Redemption 2 companion app and reads as follows:

PARAM_Oculus (This is the VR hint.)

On top of this, the app itself also looks like it could be getting a PC version, as some of the code further down contains the following:

In relation to Red Dead Redemption 2 VR, it is the “PARAM_Oculus” line that implies the game could be supported by VR down the line. This may unlikely, given that Rockstar will probably work on a PC version first and foremost, as they did eventually cave with GTA V. However, why else would Oculus be included in the code for the companion app files?
Although this code contains information related to a Red Dead Redemption 2 PC version and a Red Dead Redemption 2 VR version, it’s important to recognize that it doesn’t guarantee anything. It seems more likely now than before that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be coming to PC, and it’s interesting to see that VR has been thrown into the mix, too. However, there’s no time frame to work off, nor anything more concrete than code which could be written off at some point. Here’s hoping, though!
