Red Dead Redemption 2 Slow Looting – Can I Speed Up?

If you’ve fired up the first few hours, you’re probably already well acquainted with the Red Dead Redemption 2 slow looting and all of the laborious animations that come with that, as well as with the likes of talking to NPCs, walking, and pretty much everything else in the Old West. Below, we’ll look at whether you can speed up in Red Dead Redemption 2, particularly when it pertains to the game’s slow looting system.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Slow Looting – Can I Speed Up?

Do you want the bad news, or the even worse news? As of right now, there is no way to speed up Red Dead Redemption 2 which means that you’re going to have to hold down triangle/Y and loot those bodies in exactly the same manner every time.

That means crouching down, going through a dead man’s pockets, slowly getting back up, and repeating it ad nauseam. While it may rankle with some, it’s clear that Rockstar has chosen to take a slower, more deliberate pacing with Red Dead Redemption 2 in comparison to the hot-and-heavy Grand Theft Auto V. Some may appreciate it, some may not, but the fact still remains: there is nothing in the Options menu, nor any settings, upgrades, or any improvements the further you get into the game.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Slow Looting – Can I Skip Animations?

No siree. There is no option, such a B/circle in most RPGs, to skip or cut out animations. While you may be used to a simple button press for looting, Red Dead Redemption 2 has taken over from the likes of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and its plodding hold-to-loot system for chests and tacked on a seriously impressive series of animations. We aren’t instantly gratified in Red Dead Redemption 2, and that’s okay. For now, it’s going to have to be something you’ll have to get used to.
